It’s happening! Snacking Dinners—the cookbook version (ie, the book this entire Substack idea is based on)—is available for pre-order. And I can finally show everyone this absolutely gorgeous cover and share some teaser spreads (below).
This book has been so much fun to work on. The whole thing came together really quickly; I had the idea almost exactly a year ago, my agent sold it two weeks later, and I finished writing and recipe testing last spring. It’s been a whirlwind! And I can’t wait to share it with the world.
If you’ve read the About section of this newsletter, you won’t be surprised to learn that this book is about making dinners fast and fun and delicious. As I say in the book’s intro, snacking dinners should be “all delight and zero obligation.” They’re the meals I turn to when I have a night to myself and want to make myself a treat without spending too much time in the kitchen. But they’re also meals that I make when a friend drops by or when my family has had a hard day and I need to make dinnertime fun (and easy).
The recipes in this book cover classic snacks from around the world—from crackers with cheese to antipasti and onigiri to a fruity chaat—as well as the kinds of dishes you usually find on an appetizer menu or at a wine bar (think fruit with creamy burrata, crab and avocado on Ritz crackers, hummus topped with spice nuts and olives, and even a caviar sandwich). Most are dishes I’ve developed in my kitchen, but a few come from amazing chefs and home cooks who have generously shared their snacking traditions and recipes with me.
I can’t wait to share all of these snacks with you! The book release date is next April, but pre-orders are actually an incredibly important part of a book’s success, so if you ORDER IT NOW, I’ll be more grateful than I can say! (In fact, pre-orders are so important that there will be some added bonuses for people who buy before the release date—watch future newsletters for details!)
