Book Launch Week Preview Recipes
Zuni-inspired celery sticks, shrimp cocktail, and okonomiyaki tater tots
This week’s book launch has been absolutely amazing—and totally exhausting. In truth, I actually developed two new snacking meals this week (cooking can be very soothing!), but making them and photographing them is as far as I got; writing will have to come later.
Thankfully, a handful of other amazing Substack writers wrote about the book this week, and they shared their favorite recipes in those posts. So, instead of sending out a half-baked post this weekend, I thought I’d share theirs—which also gives you a chance to try out a few of the recipes from the book!
My new book, SNACKING DINNERS, launched this past week! I’ve been so very thrilled by everyone’s enthusiasm and excitement for it. (We’ve already ordered a second printing!) If you buy a copy and you’d like a signed book plate, feel free to message me in the app or respond to this email. And check out my book events page for upcoming talks, signings, and pop-ups in the Bay Area, New York, London, and more!
The first post comes from best-selling novelist
, who is using a recipe from the book—the okonomiyaki tater tots pictured above—and used the launch of the book as an opportunity to write about author collaborations and what makes them work. You’ll find that recipes, and her wonderful guidance, here:The second post comes from
’s Tuesday Night Dinner Club. Marisa (the culinary maven) made the two recipes on my Old-School Steakhouse Bar themed menu in the Sharing Your Snacks section of the book—and added the suggested sides, too. Her thoughts and both recipes are here:Hope you enjoy these little peeks into the book! I’ll be giving a book talk tomorrow evening in Los Angeles, at Now Serving.
will be “interviewing” me, and it should be a fun conversation about snacks, feeding ourselves, and feeding families. (And, yes, there will be food!)Photos: Leela Cyd for Snacking Dinners
Cheers to the second printing! I’ve been reading your beautiful book all week and can’t wait to get in the kitchen.
